Our Story

Little Brown Bird Event Planning was born at a barn wedding in rural Colorado. Jessi was doing a little bit of on-site coordination for a friend, and had directed the set up the day before. During the event, she noticed a few things that would have made the event just a little bit easier. There was some confusion about when to move from the cocktail hour to the reception and no clear spot for people to get water or non-alcoholic drinks. The line for the buffet formed directly in front of the DJ speakers.

None of the issues were big, and most people didn't even notice them. But Jessi's superpower is logistics, and she'd been working events for years. Her husband listened to her ponder about what she'd have done differently during set up if she'd had a better idea of the overall event flow and said "You know this industry. You have a huge network here. You're looking for a change, and there's not a lot of overhead in services. What if event planning is the next business?"

Jessi named Little Brown Bird after the small songbirds you see perched around town. They're the kind of thing that's easy to overlook, but you miss them when they're gone. Her business philosophy is to be like a little brown bird - fluttering around in the background of your life bringing joy.
